Work Environment:
 This position is Full-time, is Hybrid (Remote/Home Office w/requirement to report to Work location per business needs)
 Office hours are typically Mon-Fri, 8 am-5 pm
Extended hours during the evening or the weekend may be required by business needs
25% Travel required 
A Remote (Home) office is required

May be required to lift and move up to 10 lbs of force frequently or 20 lbs occasionally

DL Required: Required to safely operate a motor vehicle (OR State of Colorado Fleet motor vehicle/Colorado DL required) to complete travel requirements. (For positions with extensive travel that cannot be completed by public transportation or Lift/Uber--this is a terminable condition of employment)
 
Position Summary:
Join our team as a nutrition senior consultant where you will support child nutrition sponsors across Colorado with meal counting and claiming and resource management. Responsibilities include managing a caseload of sponsors, conducting on-site reviews and helping ensure program effectiveness and innovation. 
 The ideal candidate will have an understanding of child nutrition programs, strong project management skills, experience with financial management and data analysis and is passionate about enhancing the effectiveness of child nutrition programs across the state.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
 Oversee and provide subject matter expertise for meal counting and claiming and resource management requirements. Responsibilities include providing internal and external guidance and implementing program workplans. 
Provide technical assistance to sponsors about their claims for reimbursement.
Provides subject matter expertise and oversight for the resource management review process, including allowable costs, non-program revenue, paid lunch equity and maintenance of a non-profit food service account. Oversees and supports sponsors with unpaid meal charges. 
Collaborate with the review manager to ensure resource management requirements are assessed accurately during administrative reviews. 
Assist with processing annual participation agreements for sponsors across the state. 
Conduct accurate administrative reviews of child nutrition programs across the state to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. 
In collaboration with unit teams, implement internal and external trainings related to program areas overseen. 
Effectively train internal and external customers on various topics related to child nutrition programs.
Manages an assigned caseload of sponsors by answering questions, providing technical assistance and training, conducting compliance reviews and engaging in outreach.
Provide subject matter expertise and support for Provisional Programs. Collaborate with the lead senior consultant to implement program area workplans.
 Travel is required approximately 25% and varies throughout the year. Most travel is within Colorado for site visits, reviews or training. Occasional travel out of state for conferences.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
 
 Minimum Requirements:
 Four years of education and experience OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition, dietetics, public health, education, business administration, finance, accounting or a related field. 
AND 
 
At least three years of experience working with federal child nutrition programs. 
Qualifications: 
 Child Nutrition Program Knowledge:
 Understanding of federal and state laws governing child nutrition programs.
Knowledge of food service operations, including menu planning, meal benefits, meal counting and claiming, financial management, and procurement systems.
Communication & Training Skills:
 Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
Proficiency in presenting complex information to diverse audiences through various methods (presentations, workshops, online modules).
Ability to interpret policies, assess programs, identify problems, and determine improvements.
Technical Proficiency:
 Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data systems and technology platforms to analyze, track and report program information.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Google drive and web-based systems. Experience using SmartSheets preferred.
Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights.
Project Management:
 Capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
Effective project planning and implementation utilizing team strengths.
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:
 Ability to collaborate effectively with various individuals, demonstrating professionalism and exceptional customer service.

 Preferred: School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) preferred
Experience with financial management, claim reimbursement processes and fiscal compliance preferred.
 Conditions of Employment (Required):Must be willing and able to submit to the pre-screening process and pass a background check.
Ability and willingness to independently determine, obtain means, and complete required travel (percentage 25%)
