FoodCorps partners with schools and communities to nourish kids’ health, education, and sense of belonging so that every child, in every school, experiences the joy and power of food. Our AmeriCorps members serve alongside educators and school nutrition leaders to provide kids with nourishing meals, food education, and culturally affirming experiences with food that celebrate and nurture the whole child. Building on this direct service, FoodCorps advocates for policy change, grows networks, and develops leaders in service of every kid’s health and wellbeing. Our goal is that by 2030, every child will have access to food education and nourishing food in school.

What We’re Looking For:

FoodCorps is seeking a Social Media Community Coordinator who will work as part of the Marketing and Communications team. This role will be responsible for developing social media content (specializing in short-form video creation) and fostering online community by actively engaging with FoodCorps’ social media audiences. Additionally, this role will support FoodCorps’ wider social media strategy by assisting with content posting, trend monitoring, and data collection. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Digital Marketing, and will work in close collaboration with the Social Media Manager. This is a full-time, remote position. Occasional travel will be required for content-gathering and team meetings.

You are passionate about FoodCorps’ mission and dedicated to food justice and racial equity. You thrive in the constantly evolving world of social media and have an unmistakable gift of creative storytelling. You have experience crafting and publishing highly engaging social media content for a brand and consider short-form videos (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) your specialty. You’re a social media trend spotter and you know how to leverage buzz-worthy content while maintaining an organization’s brand voice. You’re as comfortable in front of the camera as you are guiding influencers from behind the lens. Your networking and community-building skills allow you to easily connect with people and build community online. You thrive in a collaborative environment and can complete tasks within tight deadlines.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

Content Development - 40%

  • Develop collaborative content plans for short-form videos tailored to each social media platform’s target audience

  • Produce highly engaging short-form video content for FoodCorps’ TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels

  • Source, curate, and publish user-generated content (including from FoodCorps’ state programs and affiliated accounts) that showcase the impact of FoodCorps work

Community Engagement - 40%

  • Foster community by engaging with audiences across FoodCorps’ social media platforms, including responding to comments, messages, and mentions; initiating conversations; and participating in trending discussions

  • Identify and build online relationships with cause-adjacent influencers with whom FoodCorps seeks to engage

  • Monitor all social media platforms for relevant trends and conversations related to topics within our industry to advise content strategies and elevate FoodCorps’ brand visibility

Support and Admin - 20%

  • Assist the Social Media Manager with scheduling and publishing content (using Sprout Social and Meta Business Suite) across FoodCorps’ social media platforms. We actively post on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We also have TikTok, YouTube, and X/Twitter accounts. 

  • Contribute to the collection of social media metrics for reporting

  • Support overall social media strategy by keeping track of standard processes, updates, and systems changes across all platforms
